Centre for Women's support, Tiraspol
The aim of this project is to improving the situation of women in the region of Transnistria, to providing access to information and education.
Background:
Women in Transnistrian region remain the most vulnerable part of society. Women have neither access to information, nor any place to go to, when they have to face hardships, such as poverty, unemployment, violence in the family or own children in difficulty. In such vulnerable situations, women much easier tend to fall into the tricks of organized crime. Any kind of consultation is it psychological or legal, to improve their situation, is simply out of reach for these women. They are not aware of their rights in their family, in their working place, for their vulnerable or sick children, when they are entitled to social assistance, etc.
The consequences of this situation are abuse of women, children in families and work places, human trafficking, prostitution, and addictions.
So far in Transnistria there is no offer of free of charge consultation and concrete help for such women.
Hilfswerk has started to operate a legal clinic with students from law school to answer to this lack. With the present project, Hilfswerk Austria wants to expand the service in order to build a component particularly supporting women and families in different crisis situations.
