CHILD AND YOUTH PROTECTION PROGRAM
Since the establishment of the Republic of Moldova in 1991, the institutionalization of children has been the only state policy for the protection of children. Today, about 13.000 children are living in institutions, 80% of these do have families, but have been abandoned due to economic reasons. The problem of child protection is extremely important, because it ultimately influences and determines the human society of Moldova. It is time to develop and support new methods of work and new approaches to these issues.
Project aim
Protection and chances for children and youth in the Republic of Moldova through an improvement of the live quality, education of the pedagogues, sensibilisation of public opinion and development of civil society.
Planned activities
§ Building a Vocational Educational Youth Centre in Grigorauca, rayon Sângerei
§ Creating an alternative Rehabilitation Day-care Centre for children with disabilities in Dubasari
§ Reparations of the roofs and partial rehabilitation of the sanitation system of the Internat in Straseni
§ Developing the alternative child care institution Small Group Homes from Chisinau
§ Renovation of Tiraspol Neuro - Psychiatric Internat for boys
Specific objectives
§ Elevation of poverty and its consequences in Moldova. The project fights poverty of one of the most disadvantaged groups in Moldova and contributes to the protection of children and youth and their families.
§ Development of the Social Sector and social structures through de-institutionalization of children and their re-integration in their biological family or a foster family as well as integration to the general school system.
§ Support to the development of a civil society. For sustainable outcomes and optimum spill-overs, networks of NGOs and authorities are supported and encouraged.
