INTERNAT FOR DISABLED BOYS IN TIRASPOL, TRANSNISTRIA

The project aims at the support of the Neuropsychological Internat of Boys in Tiraspol, Transnistrian Region.

The Internat is the home of 50 boys with mental and physical disabilities. The physical conditions of the Internat, the „teaching“ and „therapy“ methods are tremendous:

Children are not developed at all. They are doomed to remain for the rest of their lives in this internat with no possibility to have contact to the outside world. They had no functioning heating or sanitary system, no mattresses for the beds or nappies for the children, who have to stay in bed.   

Activities of Hilfswerk Austria:

Past Activites:

¢        In the past years, Hilfswerk renovated the heating system, the sanitary spaces, the kitchens.

¢        Further on, Hilfswerk established a class-room for teaching and education of the children

Present Activities:

¢        Hilfswerk is conducting trainings of the educational personnel

¢        Hilfswerk is promoting community activities, such as painting of the rooms together with the local school of Arts

¢        Hilfswerk is further trying to deinstitutionalize some children out of the internat to foster families

Target group:

¢        50 Boys living in the Internat of Tiraspol

¢        About 20 pedagogical and medical personnel of the Internat

¢        Local Administrations
