VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT
One of the biggest problems of the Republic of Moldova is the lack of a skilled and trained labour force and the lack of know-how of entrepreneurs in rural areas. There are hardly any professional and/or affordable vocational training possibilities for young people. Therefore many of them try to make a living abroad.
The main aim of the project will be to reduce poverty in 5 Rayons of Central Moldova (Singerei, Telenesti, Orhei, Rezina, Soldanesti) through rural development and job creation initiatives.
On the one hand the existing Vocational Education Training (VET) Center in Grigorauca will continue to provide high-level VET courses for young people of the region. On the other hand short-term courses will be offered to employees who are already part of the active workforce but whose skills need urgent upgrading.
These efforts will be complemented with a micro grants program in order to support local farmers and entrepreneurs in their business development, create working places and improve economic production. Trade cooperatives and associations will be created in order for entrepreneurs and farmers to be able to compete more successfully in the market.
Last but not least an Advice Center will be set-up whose task it is to consult farmers and entrepreneurs and to elaborate needed theoretical studies and research papers.
All prerequisites necessary for the project are there: the local needs, the already existing and prestigious VET Centre in Grigorauca and the support of the local and national authorities.
